I am in the middle of the second week of the diabetic training so here is a wrap up of the first week.
I should mention that I have been going to the gym for different workouts for a couple of months but only for 10 days I have committed.
The first week included 240 minutes of bike and run, with a long run of 45 minutes on Thursday. You can visit Training page and see my exact training schedule.
From the 6 workouts I have missed only on session. The main reason for this was skipping lunch at work so in the evening when I got home I was a little week and hungry. I just couldn’t stop and ate a little to much. I was feeling kind of full and I know that my performance is really bad in these cases. Oh, this mix of being full with feeling also tired made me sleep for an hour or so. So eating lunch or at least a decent snack is a take away and up to this point of the week I managed to eat the lunch and also have a snack.
My main worry as a diabetic was possible fluctuation in sugar level. In order to prevent any lows during the workout, I always test before and make sure I will be around 140 when I start. Doing this, I usually finish within the 70-90 range. I will monitor my sugar level and see if there is a drop in my daily average as I expect it to be.
There is a good feeling that I have after each workout and I love when I feel my body tired. I think this is still a reminiscence from my tennis days. I have not changed anything to my diabetic schedule except often blood sugar checks.
Do check my Training page where you will find my training summary.
With time my posts will be more structured (I still do not have a clear idea of how I want posts/ blog to be structured) and up to date.
Cheers,
Cosmin
